Scooters aren’t just a means of transport anymore. Buyers are looking at products that are stylish and sporty and convenient to use as well. And with the Fascino, Yamaha is aiming at the young and young at heart. The Fascino is the third offering from the brand in the 113cc scooter category and sports an all new design. But the mechanicals and engine have been borrowed from the Ray Z and Alpha scooters.

Engine

Packed neatly within the frame is a 113cc, single-cylinder engine that produces 7bhp and 8.10Nm of torque. The motor is air-cooled and comes paired to a CVT automatic transmission. The Yamaha Fascino is currently BSIV-compliant.

Specifications

Just like the rest of Yamaha’s models, the Fascino too carries a very bold design language. The curvaceous panels give it a retro appeal. It starts with that almond-shaped headlight unit. Even the handlebar panels looks neatly designed. The front apron boasts of a faux radiator grille with the badge and a bit of chrome. The leaf-like chrome mirrors look lovely too. The body panels at the rear form a wave-like design that drops towards the rear. There’s also chrome on the side panels as well. And that ‘U’-shaped tail lamp and indicator combination looks cool too with a black panel above it and a chrome accent sporting the Yamaha badge. The silver grab-handle for the pillion has a nice finish to it. You’ll also notice that the instrument cluster has a retro look to it as well. With a white background, red needles and the font in brown, it looks rather pleasing. As for the switchgear – it is borrowed from the Ray Z. Fit and finish is of good quality. In terms of dimensions, the Fascino is 1815mm in length, 675mm in width and 1120mm in height. Throttle response is quite good and the engine is very smooth. And NVH levels are well contained. It can reach a top speed of about 85kph. At 103kgs, the scooter feels light and nimble too. The ground clearance, on the other hand, is 128mm, while the bike has a wheelbase of 1270mm and a seat height of 775mm.

Mileage

The Yamaha Fascino has a fuel tank capacity of 5.2 litres. In terms of mileage, the Yamaha Fascino is capable of returning 66kmpl by ARAI, in BSIV guise.

Mechanical Parts

You’re seated nice and upright on the Fascino, and the slender frame of the scooter adds to the overall comfort. The handlebar is low-set and within good reach. The floorboard has sufficient legroom, but there isn’t any storage area up-front. Under thigh support is good too, thanks to the well cushioned seat. Zipping around on the Fascino is lots of fun, thanks to its nimble and sure-footed nature. Ride quality is on the supple side, absorbing bumps and pot holes with ease. The brakes bite well, and the MRF rubber offers substantial grip too. Around corners, the Fascino is quite confidence-inspiring. At the front, the scooter rides on telescopic suspension, while the rear gets a unit swing setup. As far as the chassis is concerned, it is built around an underbone-type frame. The X-Blade runs on 90/100-10 tyres at the front and the rear. Retardation duties are taken care of by drum brakes at the front and at the rear.

Features include convenient hook under seat, chrome finish, raised grab handle, USB charger, bottle holder at front, in-built side stand, stylish meter console and underseat storage.
